COURSE OBJECTIVE: To introduce the student
to the concepts of Money & Banking. Financial and Securities Markets
will be studied along with some economic concepts.
- Week 1 Chapter 1. Why study Money, Banking & Financial
Markets?
- Week 2 Chapter 2. An Overview of the Financial System.
- Week 3 Chapter 3. What is Money?
- Week 4 Chapter 4. Understanding Interest Rates & Time Value
of Money.
- Week 5 Chapter 6. The Risk and Term Structure of Interest Rates.
- Week 6 - EXAM 1 will cover Chapters 1,2,3,&
4, the exact date will be announced in class. Terms and sample
questions for this exam are on my website.
- Week 7 Chapter 8. An Economic Analysis of Financial Structure.
- Week 8 Chapter 9. The Banking Firm & the Management of
Financial Institutions.
- Week 9 EXAM 2 will cover Chapters 6,8,
& 9, the exact date will be announced in class. Terms and sample

- Week 10 Chapter 10. Banking Industry: Structure and Competition.
