COURSE DESCRIPTION:  A study of the accounting methods and procedures peculiar to manufacturing activities with an emphasis on costing methods and generally accepted accounting principles.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS:  Text, COST ACCOUNTING TRADITIONS & INNOVATIONS, 5TH Edition, by Barfield, Raiborn, Kinney.

 

COURSE OBJECTIVE:  To provide the students with an understanding of the basic principles of cost accounting and exposure to the major purposes of cost accounting.

SPECIAL NOTES:  100 % attendance and class participation will be rewarded with 50 points.  Homework assignments are due on date shown on assignment schedule.  Students must study classroom material before class and be prepared to discuss.  Students should be prepared to spend 2 to 3 hours outside of class for each hour in class.
