Resources:
Counseling & Testing/Educational Resource Center

The professional staff of the Counseling and Testing/Educational Resource Center help students meet challenges of university life. We offer individual counseling for educational, career, and personal concerns, as well as groups and workshops. Information shared in counseling, including the fact that a student has come to the Center, is confidential and will not be revealed to others without the student's permission.

We offer a Career Test Battery and other tests to help students learn more about themselves. Information and referral services for students with physical or learning disabilities are also available through the Center.

To make an appointment with a counselor, please come to our office on the first floor of the Mechanical Engineering Building. For more information about our Counseling and Testing Service, call (504) 865-5113.

The Tutoring Center offers one-hour individual appointments in high-demand 100 and 200-level courses, including math and the sciences, plus some language and humanities subjects. Services also include study groups and review sessions. All sessions are facilitated by certified student tutors. The Tutoring Center is open day, evening, and Sunday hours.

The Computer Lab features 18 Power Macs with a variety of graphic design, art, and even video software as well as word processing. The programs have tutorials to help students learn them, and knowledgeable staff are always on hand to answer questions. The Center also has GRE, LSAT, GMAT, and MCAT test preparation software.

The Learning Library features multimedia materials focusing on information vital to college success: study techniques, reading comprehension, writing skills, test taking, and time and stress management.

The Writing Workshop, another service of the Center, helps undergraduates improve their writing skills. To make an appointment with the Writing Workshop or the Tutoring Center, call (504) 865-5113.
